Difficult Days II Come

The Dane County District Attorney announced today the Police involved shooting that left 19 year old Tony Robinson dead was lawful and no charges would be filed against the officer.

The incident March 6 changed our city.

The D.A., who explained the case and his personal background as the first District Attorney of color elected in the state of Wisconsin, was thorough in his presentation.

Ismael Ozanne told those listening in person, on the radio, and on TV that no decision could bring back the young man.

His level of detail in his explanation paints a wrenching picture of a tragic night.  The next steps ahead of the city will require a level of understanding and compassion that are uncommon in order for this gaping divide to be bridged.

Not only in Madison, but in too many cities in this country, where tragic events burn bright because of many years of injustice, inequity, and misunderstanding.

There are no fast answers.

There is much to do.

It's up to us; our leaders and elected officials to work to better understanding and peace.
