Supreme Sacrifice

Today marks another obscure day of recognition - it's Supreme Sacrifice Day.

Many examples of people making the supreme sacrifice are around us now and throughout history.

Jesus died on the cross for each of us - the ultimate supreme sacrifice that did a lot more than allow us to live another day or a few more years.

In the world around us, police and fire fighters are prepared to step into the line of fire or fire itself to keep citizens safe.

Legions of men and women in the military do the same, defending our freedom and fighting for the freedom of others each day.

Yet, not every hero is in uniform.  The idea of Supreme Sacrifice is to recognize not just the ultimate sacrifice, but those who give up their way of life or choose to lift others up while taking a different path.

Some of those sacrificial heroes spend hours in food kitchens; take in foster children to raise as their own; or work on the front lines to right wrongs and lift others up.

The sacrifice can be in various sizes and by folks you would never expect.  You are likely one of those sacrificial heroes even though you would never admit or maybe even realize you are a hero too.
