Winds of Change

Most of the time we don't feel or notice the winds of change.  Even when they are swirling around us.

Just this past weekend, during the first "real" winter storm of the season, the northeast winds drove snow into our balcony where it swirled around the open-sided rectangle.

Inside the crevice between the screen and window - some snow started to accumulate.  Soon, the snow was sculpted more than three feet from the floor like an elaborate piece of sand art.

Looks kind of like Snoopy if you imagine the base as the dog's feet and nose extension at the top emphasizing Charlie's dog's mouth.  Can't see it?  That's OK - it may be more apparent in person.

You don't notice these things usually unless it is almost painted on the walls.  At the start, I noticed the small pyramid of snow at the base and a little apostrophe of snow near the top of the stacked chairs the balcony.

In our day to day life, the wind and its erosive or creative building goes on and we are oblivious to it.

There are winds around each of us - shaping us; carving new qualities and creating new character.

At times those winds are hard to withstand, maybe knock us down or push us back, forcing us to recover old ground.

Sometimes it is difficult to get back on our feet or understand why those winds are blowing us around.

Thankfully, there is good news that can help us weather those storms of life.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.   Romans 8:28
