When Saturday dawned, I had forgotten that it was actually International Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast Day.
Memories were rekindled, however, after a trip to Prairie du Sac to watch the Bald Eagles discovered none of the majestic birds in the air or on a limb.
Journeys like this are not a loss if there is breakfast and in Prairie du Sac is the original Blue Spoon Cafe.
Inside, for the first time I saw Custard Pancakes on the menu. Culver's custard goes into the batter. Mmmmm! The server asked if I might like Gelato and strawberries instead of Maple Syrup.
Likely. Very likely! You can see it in the upper right corner and I'm glad I held the line at two cakes. It was delicious - a light and creamy flavor to the cakes infused with Gelato (Italian Ice Cream) and fruity berries.
You won't go wrong choosing a Steamer as the beverage to go with it. The warm whole milk flavored with (my choice) of Carmel was a filling and healthy compliment to a rather decadent start to the day.
It may have been the early morning crowd or the individually prepared batter that resulted in a slightly longer than what felt "normal" for the Custard cakes to get to our table, but it was worth the wait!
