Ice Bowl II?

To clear things up right away, this is not the Second Ice Bowl.

For one thing, it's too warm.

Second, while it's a big game, it's not as big as THE Ice Bowl.

But, it is the first time in 47 years that the star wearing Texans make their way back to the Frozen Tundra since that famous day December 31, 1967.

Welcome to Wisconsin, Cowboys, I hope your stay is short and unprofitable.

The last time a playoff game took place in Lambeau between these two teams it was -13 at the start of the game.

Trailing late, Coach Lombardi had Bart Starr and the Pack go for the win instead of playing for overtime so the fans could go home and warm up.

Starr's quarterback sneak between center Ken Bowman and right guard Jerry Kramer won the game, propelling Green Bay into the Super Bowl and another championship for Titletown.

No, I don't think today's game will match it - but it looks like a good game.  Green Bay is undefeated at home.  Dallas did not lose on the road this season.  Something is going to change.

There are a couple of Cheeseheads on the cowpokes - Tony Romo is from Burlington; Nick Hayden and Travis Frederick played for Wisconsin and Frederick is from the small Wisconsin community of Sharon.

It will be a hard fought game.  I like the way the Packers have been playing defense as the season came to a close and the Packer offense with Aaron Rodgers under center are good enough to win.

It's time to play.  The winner advances to the NFC Championship game for the right to play in Super Bowl 49.  It feels like Green Bay's year to me.

Let's play.  Go Pack, Go!

(I'll be unable to update this blog for a few days, but I'll be watching today and will jump back in with my take on the game later this week.)
