Wait on the Lord

It's been an anxious and busy past seven days.

There was a two day job-related conference in Chicago last Tuesday and Wednesday.  It was a good workshop where I learned a lot of new and better ways to do my job.

In the days and weeks to come that training will help me do a better job working with donors to help them do with their money the things in life most meaningful to them.

On either side of the conference were some usual work days, but some health concerns within the family that required a lot of attention.

It's the first few steps of arduous journey.  The path is unclear, so much so that we aren't completely sure where we are going.

There have been meetings with doctors. Lab work and waiting for results.

I've done some on-line research, and while that provides a lot of information - it's difficult to know if the words really apply to the situation in front of us.

This next week brings more tests and more waiting.

In the midst of the uncertainty is a great certainty - the love of a gracious and loving God and the presence of His Son.

The meetings with doctors provide information and allow for informed decisions.

What I've found so far is when those quiet moments in the middle of the night come and you lie awake wondering and thinking of what might happen - is that while I don't know the exact route in front of us I do know who is in charge.

The doctors give us opinion based on their experience and the best medical information available, but we know it truly is in God's hands.  For that, we are truly thankful.

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Isaiah 40:31
