Prepare your Home, Prepare your Heart

The decorations are up.

Most of the presents are purchased.  Cards and Christmas newsletters are in the mail, or will be soon.

Getting ready for Christmas is more than the trappings and the trimmings.  Advent is a season to prepare our hearts for the arrival of the Savior.

Jesus, our Savior, came to earth as a baby, grew up and lived a perfect life in a sinful world.

It wasn't a surprise visit, but one that was expected for hundreds of years and foretold.

But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall come forth to Me the One to be ruler in Israel, whose goings forth are from of old, from everlasting.  Micah 5:2

Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.  Isaiah 7:14

For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. and His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end. Isaiah 9:6

As we finish the wrapping of Christmas with bows and lace; let us ask forgiveness and that our hearts might be ready to receive our King.  Something much more important than decking the halls for family and friends.
