Another Year Rolls Past...

There's no big number this time.

No zero involved.

It's just another day.  Give or take some leap years, 18,615.

And counting.

My most recent milestone ended with a trip to the local establishment that calls itself Madison's Official Birthday Place - The Nitty Gritty.

If you have enough birthdays under your belt, you are invited to step up to the bar to get your birthday balloon, your birthday mug (pictured), and to fill the mug with your preferred beverage (Spotted Cow from the New Glarus Brewery in my case).

After polishing off my Pretzel Bender Burger - excellent, by the way.  The pretzel bun is awesome and the onion rings on top of the burger added some nice flavors for a birthday meal.

The Cheese Curds on the side were pretty good, too.

Of course, if you want to accumulate a lot of Nitty Gritty mugs - you may want to save such meals for your birthday!

At the end of the meal, I enjoyed the first of what could be 12 (one each month) sundaes.

Yes, it's served in a shot glass.  There is a dollop of ice cream.  A spurt of whipped cream.  Some chocolate syrup and a candle.

A couple of servers delivered it and led singing of "Happy Birthday."

That song is on the hit parade (boy, that term will date me beyond my years!) in this place.  For every birthday boy or girl that walks in, a bell rings and soon you notice a balloon bouncing up and down as the birthday party finds its table.

It's a pretty smart market niche for the popular bar and grill, and with a card good for 11 more mini-sundaes - I'm sure to go back before another candle is put on top.
