Happy Mother's Day

Here's to Moms.

The mothers who get up early, stay up late, take care of the house, take care of the kids, and take care of things on the job.

Mom is the emergency medical technician who can heal a wound with a kiss and solve a fever with a cold washcloth and bowl of chicken soup.

Mom is the person who "loves" watching the baseball game on TV for 5 nights out of 7 and doesn't mind going to the game either, even if the "boxseat" is a lawnchair from home and she has to bring her own beverage and treats for everyone else.

Mom holds things together when there are more days than paycheck and is able to make more meals out of noodles and hamburger than any of those big time chefs on the Food Network.

Moms are seemingly made out of rubber for the way they can bounce back from unkind words and acts from their kids who too frequently speak without thinking.  Moms hear, forget, and keep on loving.

Moms bind together broken hearts; offer a listening ear; and when asked, offer sincere advice that their kids will use then and still recall to their own kids many years later.

Some Moms find the strength to give their kids into loving homes that would give them an opportunity even though it might leave a gaping wound in her soul.

Some Moms adopt kids raising and nourishing them so they grow up strong - surrounded by love and affection.

Moms change the world and keep it spinning on its axis through the day to day example they provide to their children.

Moms wait by the phone and check the mail - wondering if the call or the card will come.  When it doesn't they say it's OK and are glad to hear everything is good.

Moms are a gift from God.  Sometimes our mothers might be with us a very short time - but leave their mark in our hearts forever.  Some moms are blessed with a long-life, able to see children raise their grandchildren who they can spoil like they never did their own kids.

It's a 24/7/365 job without much fanfare and less compensation if you look at the hourly rate.

But Moms would argue otherwise, that its the best career in the world and they would do it again.

Thank you, Mom!  You are the greatest!
