Fruit Cakes with Sunshine

Slowly I'm making my way through the Madison Magazine list of the places in town with the 13 Tastiest pancakes.

No doubt, there are many sacrifices I'm wiling to make to bring you updated blog material!    :-)

The latest was the beautiful and cozy spot called the Sunprint Cafe.  It's right on the Capitol Square in an office building along Mifflin Street.

The Sunprint greets you with a coffee service counter and friendly servers ready to take your order when you are ready.

I found a stand - up height table in a corner on a recent Saturday morning, a perfect place to read some of the latest Tom Clancy thriller while enjoying their signature cake.

It's  fruit cake.  Well, not a fruitcake exactly, but a pancake (made with malt powder) and fresh strawberries.
Another variation of the breakfast treat features a fruit compote, which could be in the cards for a return trip.

Located on the square means the cafe is amidst the action six months of the year as Madison's Farmer's Market sets up shop around the Capitol from April through October.

It's there the chef gathers much of the fresh produce used on the pancake and many other of the breakfast, lunch, and dinner offerings.

My fresh strawberries didn't come from a nearby field (although perhaps a greenhouse?), but tasted like spring on a fork anyway.

Quiet conversation around the cafe was about plans for the day or opinions on the latest news stories created a delightfully cosmopolitan ambiance to start the day.

The Sunprint cafe is a great place to slow down, relax, and enjoy good food and good conversation - a downtown oasis to recharge on a busy day.

According to my count - I've now checked off eight of the top 13 pancakes on the list - so there are five more blog reviews waiting for another day.  I can't wait.
