Moon Golf

On this day 43 years ago, Alan Shepherd hit three golf shots on the moon.  It was something the avid golfer wanted to do before re-boarding Apollo 14 and returning home.

This past December, China landed an unmanned ship on the lunar surface.   The Soviet Union landed a ship on the moon in 1976, four years after Apollo 17 and was the last probe to land until the Chinese ship landed and sent out a rover to explore.

Depending on the night, the atmosphere, and the phase of the moon - it can seem close enough to touch.

We know it's not made out of green cheese, but the beauty of a night under the moon and stars can be a transporting experience.


It's 238,857 miles away but the sun light it reflects illuminates the night - and gives the snow covered ground a glow all its own.

The moon is our night light; it controls our tides; and it can put children to sleep.
