Main Street Cafe

On West Main in the burg of Evansville, Wisconsin - the cozy Main Street Cafe welcomes folks in from the red brick road out front to come in for something to eat.

I'm up for trying new places - especially for breakfast - and the plain sounding place sounded plainly good.

Inside, there's a counter for six and tables and booths for a mix of locals and those passing through the town of 5,000.
There was a table of some of gentlemen busy solving the problems of the world, the Packers, and Blue Devils (not necessarily in that order).

A man in the booth next to us noticed my Badger shirt and asked what I thought of the Badger basketball team.  We both had been at the last home game in person and agreed that Bo seems to have his boys re-aligned for another good end to the season.

Like us, he just moved back to Wisconsin after an exile out of state - his in Minnesota - and glad to be home.

That's what the Main Street Cafe feels like - home.

It's a place for good food and good company... even if you walk in alone.

The small town eatery reflects some of the wonderful changes across our landscape.  The cafe is an American - Mexican cafe run by ambitious folks glad to be in Wisconsin to take care of their family and work for their future.

It's the American way, to be sure, and just another face on the changing world of Wisconsin - home to those tough enough to endure the winter; kind enough to care for their neighbor; and anxious to add their piece to the crazy patchwork quilt that makes America's Dairyland such a great place to live.

Oh, don't forget the hearty plate of pancakes and bacon - that's another good reason.
