Starting the Big Push

In Jerry Kramer's hit book, Instant Replay, he quoted Coach Lombardi announcing at various times in their run to the second AFL-NFL Championship that "Now, (the team) is starting the big push!"

It starts in training camp when bikes are borrowed for the ride from the locker room to practice field, continues into preseason and then regular season action.

Maybe toward mid-season when there is adversity, it is time, again, to begin the BIG PUSH.
Just when you give all you think you can... it's time again to begin the BIG PUSH.

In our lives, we encounter numerous times when we think we can't make it to tomorrow or next year or for the next decade... and it's time for us to begin our own BIG PUSH.

Later, we'll look back with a smile.  It wasn't that difficult after all and we could certainly do that (or more) the next time.  That's when its time to really start the BIG PUSH.
You might be at work suffering through a difficult project or fighting off doldrums that come with a long and tedious string of work days.  You guessed it, time to start the BIG PUSH!

It helps to have a coach remind us that we have been here before and can do it again.

Better is to recognize our Lord and Savior as the substitute into the game for us who took everything on, pushed through maximum and ultimate pain, and reached an ultimate victory.  For us.
Prayer in school and at work may bring a stirring of faith and the ability and challenge to move forward.  We can't do this alone, but we can do it through Him.

For my favorite team in the small city up north, the prayer is for health and maximum effort that gives the glory to God, win or lose.  And, I suggest they look over their shoulders to training camp and the countless hours they poured into preparing to play to the best of their ability.  Then dig deeper, for more effort than they thought was in them.

Today is an excellent day to begin - the BIG PUSH!
