Dynamite!

In 1867, on this date, Alfred Nobel demonstrated dynamite.  Quite something when you think about it, the man who helped develop stuff that would blow stuff up - gave money and his name is on the International Peace Prize!

There's a lot of good uses, still, for dynamite.  Clearing rocks for construction - getting stumps out of the way - mining - quarrying - and fishing.   (Oh, wait a second - that last one may not actually be a good idea.)

Then in 1914, rocket fuel was patented.

Isn't that a coincidence?

Our world wouldn't be the same without the two inventions/discoveries and we would be a lot poorer for it.  Highways through hills and mountains would be more difficult to build and we never would have made it to the moon.

Also, James Evans, Jr. (JJ) wouldn't have anything to use as a catch phrase on the Good Times TV show that aired on CBS from 1974 to 1979.   DY-NO-MITE!

If you are of a certain age, you remember, don't you?

As a tribute to JJ and Dr. Nobel - let's hear it for the men and women who invent stuff in basements, garages, and laboratory - you guys are DY - NO - MITE!!!!

Have an awesome day in creation.
