Epic

Epic is a healthcare software maker started in Madison in the late 90s and has exploded as an employer and difference maker here in southern Wisconsin.

This week, I had the opportunity to tour a little of their campus and it was most impressive.  Epic has built a major campus in the community of Verona that is home now to more than 6,000 employees.

The campus itself is amazing - with many beautiful buildings (more on some of those in a future blog) and incredible landscaping.

Our group saw the Learning Center and walked through a couple of the buildings where software designers and support teams are busy working.
One of the first things you notice upon entering is the artwork.  As you walk down the spacious corridors there are paintings and sculptures that make you stop, look, and think.

The robot head was the first one to catch my eye.  A little further down the hall sat Jake and Elwood taking a 'pause for the cause.'

My favorite one may have been one of the 'girls' in Miss Kitty's Conference Room in the Wild West themed building.

Leaning over the railing on the second floor overlooking the hundreds of desks below... it appeared she was ready to go to work.  At least in a 'Gunsmoke' kind of way - I'm sure Miss Kitty downstairs would have made sure everything was on the up-and-up first!

Our tour had guides, but Epic is available for visitors to take their own self-guided tours as well.  It felt like there was so much more to see and learn, I'll be heading back before long.
