Ella's Deli

Finding the words to describe Ella's Deli is difficult.

It's also easy.

There's: wonderful, grand, marvelous, terrific, tremendous, amazing, fun, delicious, filling, adventurous, yummy, kosher, iconic, landmark, must-stop-to-see-it, and wow.

Ella's is locally owned and decorated.  Inside their store on East Washington Street is like experiencing sensory overload.  There are gadgets and gizmo's hanging from the ceiling, clinging to the walls, embedded inside tables.

The attractions and animations are hand-made by employees, former employees, and artists.  Mighty Mouse flew back and forth dozens of times during our meal there - eager to "Save the Day."

The menu is 20 pages long and that doesn't count a separate eight page dessert menu.  The food is kosher and delicious.  I enjoyed the roast beef while friends "oohed and aah-ed" over the Reuben.

It's a fun place for young families, but it's for all ages - in fact a lot of the animated pieces of art will mean more to those over the age of 40,  Quick, how many of you even knew about Mighty Mouse?

There's the restored vintage Carousel out front that operates during the warm weather months and offers rides for a nominal charge.

Go for dinner or show up for a dessert.   Hold a birthday party or (as my sister did) a Bridal Shower and it will be a day and experience you will long remember, and seek to repeat the next time you are in the city.
