Morning in Madison

The mornings come early to Wisconsin's capital city, and during this transition from winter to spring the sun coming over the horizon is a very welcome sight.

Until, you are driving straight into it.

Then you best be wearing a welding mask and have the driver-side visor pulled down low.

In my experience, if you can see the bumper on the car in front of you you will know when the light changes to green.

Another good idea is to have a clean windshield, which can be difficult on wet and sometimes slushy roads, so fill up the wiper fluid on a regular basis.

If you leave the same time every day, the sun is working with you as it keeps rising earlier and earlier each morning which solves the problem all by itself.

The dawn time of day is worth the trouble to get out - this past Saturday around 6:30 created these conditions downtown - where a combination of natural and artificial light helped the capitol wake up it's neighbors.

It's another reminder of spring's arrival, since in less than three weeks, the Madison Farmer's Market returns to the square.  When that's underway, I won't have the sidewalks to myself anymore unless I follow the sun and heed an earlier wake-up call.
