The Most Important Meal...

Isn't that what mom always said?  Or maybe that was the 'TV Mom' or the TV Commercial for the 'incredible edible egg?

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

Sure, I'm down with that.  Of course, it's nice sometimes to have a little breakfast that is fun to eat as well.

But first, to add some substance to this blog - there is this from webmd.com that tells us that no matter what we think breakfast makes sense.

If you want to lose weight:
Some people skip breakfast in an effort to lose weight, but the practice is more likely to cause weight gain than weight loss. Skipping breakfast is strongly linked to the development of obesity. Studies show that overweight and obese children, adolescents, and adults are less likely to break the fast each morning than their thinner counterparts.

Why it's important for kids and for you every day:
If you and your kids regularly skip breakfast in the interest of saving time, calories, or getting a few more minutes of sleep, remember that eating a wholesome, nutritious morning meal will probably save you time in the long run. By recharging the brain and body, you'll be more efficient in just about everything you do. Interestingly, studies show that kids who skip breakfast are tardy and absent from school more often than children who eat breakfast on a regular basis.

There don't you feel better?  I've enjoyed 'collecting' breakfast joints since moving to Madison last summer and this one, the Three Sisters Inn in Middleton embodies the concept of a breakfast joint in the best sense of the words.

I was introduced to 'Three' this past Wednesday when meeting up with a group of men from church for an early morning Bible Study.  The nondescript exterior conceals a friendly cozy interior with friendly, familiar waitresses and a great down-home menu for breakfast and lunch (breakfast can't get you all the way to dinner-time).

The weekend meant a return trip and their Blueberry Pancake (gotta have some fruit everyday!) which hit the spot as the delightfully delicious berries popped up throughout the light and fluffy cake.  Excellent and a great way to start the day with something to 'stick to your ribs!'  Good thing I was heading out to cut down trees in the back forty so I could work it off!

The rest of the week, I'm a bowl of oatmeal man, but on the weekend I like to start off right with something more and to 'healthy' it up a bit swapped my favorite chocolate chips for blueberries.

That has to be a healthy start, doesn't it?
