The Ides of March

The Ides of March is in fact March 15 - as the ides occurred on the 15th of each month - just another day.

Except for Julius Caesar - the day of which he should have been aware - was according to legend the day he was assassinated in 44 B.C.

For some, it's payday - not a bad thing at all.

Others mark today by acknowledging that St. Patrick's Day is only two days hence - better purchase some green beer and shamrocks!

In ancient Rome, March was the first month of the year, marked by celebrations from the first to the fifteenth.  (Sound to me like they may have started the St. Paddy's Day tradition - just with some extra pop!  And long before the beer companies started promoting the green day.)

Around here - there is still snow, some snow floating through the air, and just enough of a tease with sunshine that spring may be coming.

Hopefully, we'll see that by the Ides of April!
