Sunrise

One big thing I've noticed since returning to the Central Time Zone is that morning is happening when it's supposed to again.

Indiana, which adopted using Daylight Savings Time after we moved there, seems to insist on being part of the Eastern Time Zone.

The result of this determination is that the sun rises later than it should.

Many morning through the winter were dark until close to 8am.  Finally, as the march toward spring continued the sun rose a little earlier each day - even inching toward a 7am sunrise.

Then with the 'spring ahead' sunrise was closer to 8 than 7.  How depressing.  I tried to be at work prior to 7am, which meant darkness for many morning commutes.  It wouldn't be until April that the sun would be making an impact on the morning trip.

So, here's a salute to the sun and it's powerful morning rays that light up the sky, alert the birds, and add a spring to the step of those heading to work or school or on a jog around the block.

Let's give thanks to God for the sun as well - as it powers His creation and the wonderful world where we live.  This day before Easter, it's even better to pause and give thanks for the Son, who outshines the sun as our Savior.

See you in church tomorrow.  Don't worry, there will be room, we've set up chairs!
