A New (Holi) - Day

According to a website I peek at from time to time, this morning (3/26/2013) has dawned as, 'Make Your Own Holiday Day.'

Awesome, that sounds like a perfect idea.

If this had occurred to me while in my last job, I might have needed to dub this, 'Post - LuFest Celebrate and Rest Day.'  The big Annual Gala Dinner-Auction usually required several days of post-op work to pack and count and process things before starting the roll toward the following year's event.  So, for Daryn and the crew in celebration and recovery mode - here's your day.

This also might be a good day to create as, 'Listen to a Senior Day.'  One of the best things about what I do now is listen to Aging Adults and their stories.  How they grew up; their experience in World War II; and how they ended up in Madison.  If you don't do this already, my encouragement is to take time to listen today.

For those of daily braving the highways and byways around this nation of ours, how about 'Obey Traffic Laws Day?'  Imagine how much calmer you will be at work and when you get home if you didn't need to worry about the folks 'sneaking' through the brightly red hued 'yellow' stoplight; or the turning left against traffic person who then weakly offers a wave seeking forgiveness?  I daresay, there would be more pleasant conversation around the dinner table or around the TV tonight if this were in effect.

Since most of the holidays that we run into now seem to be created out of whole cloth by folks trying to get us into the weekly or daily habit of buying greeting (or e-greeting) cards; maybe we should have a 'No Holiday' and just get down to business.  Frankly how we get by without an official day to cuddle or celebrate the Hot Tub leaves me concerned, very concerned.

So, go to it - figure out what this day should be for you - and go celebrate!  (And don't forget to create a greeting card for it as well.)
