Thank You for Taking Public Transportation

For the trip to the game Sunday, we tried something a little different, for us, we drove to the mall and boarded the Madison Metro for a trip the rest of the way.

What a great idea!

The on-time bus provided a warm trip on a cold day and dropped us off much, much closer to the arena than I ever would have decided to park.

It was also fun to be with other people traveling the city, lots of people were hopping aboard the bus for a variety of reasons, both on the way downtown and on the return trip.

Unlike other cities, I've lived in - there is a badge of 'honor' to riding the bus - a kind of shared sensibility that it is better for the environment and something we can do together. Taken in total, the 25+ riders I counted on board at one point of our trip were having an impact in the gas and exhaust that wasn't being spent for a dozen, or more, individual trips.

The last time I went to a Badger game at Kohl Center, there was a decent parking lot for just $10 a good five or six block walk from the arena.  The bus fare?  $8 and a ride practically from the door of our car to the front doors of Kohl.

It'd had been something we had planning on doing for a long time, and are excited about using the Metro again for future trips downtown and other points around town.

Thanks to our drivers and a nice efficient trip - it was fun and we'll definitely do it again!
