Sign, What Sign

It was interesting to note this weekend that folks who sometimes love things - love them too much.

As the morning gave way to afternoon, and the sunshine provided welcome warmth on a cool February day - lots of people drove down to the river hangouts of the Bald Eagles.

Downtown, there was a public viewing area on the west side of the river away from the birds.  Elsewhere, there were frequently signs like the one below.
Perhaps some of the people didn't have the eagle-eye vision of the birds they clearly loved, because they got out of their cars and some even walked down to the river's edge to get as close as they could.

I'll admit, it's difficult to think of a raptor like the Bald Eagle being 'afraid' of people, but they don't like us around their homes and not around their kitchen table.

Most of the people I saw didn't create a commotion or go to extremes, but I sincerely hope the birds that are such an awesome sight didn't take offense at our presence and continue to winter along the banks of the Wisconsin River.

I hope to see them again next winter, maybe with a longer lens on my camera, for another afternoon of majestic birds in flight.
