They call the snow.... Magnus?

Magnus means great in Latin and was a popular name for Scandinavian kings, but it's the name of the most recent storm to dump some snow upon us here in Wisconsin.

The wonder of weather forecasting, some of it correct, meant Magnus didn't creep on us unexpectedly... but when the high temperature reaches 57 degrees the next thought isn't about how much snow might be on the ground the very next afternoon.

The picture to the right is our deck Tuesday around 5pm - some rain had fallen
onto the table, but the only flakes were those in piles left behind by the December storm, Draco.

Upon waking this morning, there was a little of the white stuff decorating the view outside our window like a sweep of confectionery sugar.  It looked beautiful and provided a glimpse of what was to come.

I drove into work as usual, the roads in decent shape for a snowy morn.
.
It's a nice world in which to walk, as my trek from car to office building felt more like a walk in the backwoods on a snowy evening - with only the occasional sound of a passing car.

I wish I had my camera with me at the office, as the snow topped Cranberries still hanging on branches like whipped cream on a chocolate sundae.  The snow transforms dreary gray scenes into prints by Currier & Ives - as good a reason as any to come home early, beat the traffic, and enjoy the view with a cup of Hot Cocoa.
