When the bridges went up the ford through the river wasn't needed anymore. The old road faded away.
The Zacke Cox bridge was built at the same time as the Harry Evans.
Zacke Cox, like Evans, was a landowner. According to the Parke County guide, Zachariah Cox was born in 1857.
The Cox family owned nearly 1,000 acres around the area where "their" bridge was built. Some of the land was mined for clay.

My visit in late October was perfect. The fall colors were on display. The sun was glowing.
Unlike it's neighbor, Harry Evans, Zacke Cox is tucked into the hills of Parke County near a rocky outcropping which offered me enough footing to edge downstream to get the top photo.
While it has had some work done, repairs to the roof and deck in 1989 and a deck replacement in 1991, it was restored to its original look in 2002.
