2015 Packer Memos

One fan's thoughts and reflections over a season of Green Bay Packer football; the promise of pre-season and the ups and downs over 16 games in 17 weeks of professional football.

Preseason Prediction  - It's a good way to look pretty stupid or very lucky to try to guess how this year's edition of the Pack will perform.

Game One @ Chicago - It's a good thing when you beat the Monsters of the Midway to start the season.

Game Two v. Seahawks  - There's never a bad time to defeat a team that ruined your last season.

Game Three v Chiefs - A rematch of the AFL - NFL Championship game - Super Bowl I.

Game Four@ San Francisco - The 49ers have had the Packer's number... not anymore.

Game Five v Rams - It wasn't pretty, but a win is a win.

Game Six v Chargers  - This wasn't a work of art either, but another win to start 6 - 0.

Game Seven @ Denver - Coach McCarthy's team usually performs well after a bye week.  Someone forgot to tell the players.

Game Eight @ Carolina -  A second loss on the season with a poor performance on both sides of the ball. Yecch.

Game Nine v Lions - The Packers hadn't lost to Detroit since 1991.  24 games - 23 seasons.  The longest streak of it's kind in the NFL.  Over.  Ugh.

Game Ten @ Minnesota - The Green Bay Packers seem to have turned their season around against the Vikings.  At least I hope so... we won't know for sure for a few weeks.

Before the Thanksgiving Game  Starr, Favre, and Rodgers top the all-time list of the best three quarterbacks to play for one team.

Game Eleven v Bears - It wasn't a complete embarrassment of a game like the home game with Detroit, but it's not how any Packer or fan wanted to spend the holiday.

Game Twelve @ Detroit  If all you watched was the first half, you may have flashed back to the 1980s Packer teams.  If you saw just the "bonus" time - your inner Packer was screaming for joy.

Game Thirteen v Cowboys  A big win over the Cowpokes to make it a two game win streak.  Not perfect, but heading up.

Game Fourteen @ Oakland  This one had its moments, good and bad.  But, it's the kind of game that easily could have been a loss and they found a way to win.

Praising the Long Snapper  Sometime, you don't know what you have, till it's gone.

Game Fifteen @ Arizona There isn't much good to say about this stinker other than the replacement long snapper delivered on target and this game wasn't the last one of the season.  Here's hoping it's the bottom of a nice four game climb.

Game Sixteen v Vikings  The season ended with a loud THUD in Lambeau Field as the Vikings joined conference foes Chicago and Detroit in defeating the Packers on their home field.

I am a Packer Fan   It's time to be a fan.  Forget the negative stuff on talk radio and the latest pundit who knows the results before they happen.  Cheer for your team because you want them to win.  Support them no matter what.  Go Team!

Wildcard Playoff @ Washington The PACK is BACK!  From out of a distant memory the 2016 Green Bay Packers looked more like their former selves on offense while the defense continued its outstanding season.  One win down - it's on to Arizona.

Super Bowl I  was on NFL Network and shown for the first time as a complete game since the original broadcast.  Of course, the Packers won (again), and it had me dreaming of bookend trophies.

Divisional Playoff - Unless your team wins the Super Bowl, seasons end with all the subtlety of a car crashing into a brick wall.  The Pack fought back to earn Overtime against Arizona and the crash came minutes later.
