My Week that Was - May 19

The biggest news of the last seven days is our son's wedding.

Mark married Jenna last Saturday in Carmel, Indiana.  His former teacher, who is also Chaplain at Lutheran High School of Indianapolis, officiated.

Jenna is a remarkable young woman.  She is wonderful partner for Mark and we give thanks for bringing them together.

My official role was limited to helping serve as host for a wedding night dinner for the immediate family (nice job and thanks to Charleston's of Carmel).  Beyond that, it was on me to pick up Mark and get him to the church on time for pictures.

The theme for the ceremony was a verse from Ecclesiastes 4:9 - 12:  A cord of three strands is not easily broken.

In a couple, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is the third strand of the rope which binds them together through prosperity and want; triumph and adversity; sickness and health.

During the wedding ceremony, the couple weaved the
three strands of rope together.  (dwm photo)
It's no secret, it is certain that faith in Jesus will help a couple deal with the not so good times that are part of every marriage.  While in the good times providing a reality check about where those good days originate.

It's a joyful celebration as we welcome Jenna into our family and her family welcomes Mark.

Which I guess means some sections of rope have a lot more strands to it.

Congratulations!
