There are so many locally owned places in Madison to enjoy it can take time to work back to those you liked the first time.

Lazy Jane's Cafe on Madison's iconic Willy Street is one of those places.

It was the pancakes that attracted me the first time, when they were included among the 13 Best Pancakes in Madison, and when I scanned the menu board they called to me again.

It was blueberry (a single cake, thank you).

The system at Lazy Jane's leads customers through a line and past a case of delicious looking pastries (the morning bun almost jumped ahead of the pancake).  At the register, you order and the drink is prepared.

I ordered a caramel flavored Steamer and the pancake.

They ask for your name.  When your order is ready, your name comes over the loudspeaker.  You pick it up at the kitchen window (right).

It was awesome.  The blueberries were nestled inside the cake which was fluffy enough to hide them.

Each bite was filling, sweet, and hearty - a good start to the day.

The dining room at Lazy Jane's is a comfortable collection of various kitchen tables and chairs on the first and second floor. 

On Saturday mornings, singles and couples join larger groups for conversation, an eclectic atmosphere, and darn good food.
