Baby, it's cold outside

Madison, Wisconsin is 17 inches behind what would be a normal winter of snowfall.

Just to even things out, we do seem to be colder than normal, so we have that going for us... which is nice.

It's interesting how different places react to winter weather.  Past noon this last Friday, when temperatures hovered around 15, I saw a playground full of kids enjoying (or shivering through) recess.

Last week started cold as high temperatures struggled to rise past zero.  Then the mercury rose 30 degrees and reached 20 above!  These next few days will be in the teens, which is well below normal, but not horrible.  I think it is worse because we don't have snow to brighten things up.  The very little we had melted during the couple of days when we got into the 40s, that's right, above zero!

You may have heard it said there is no bad weather, only bad clothing.  But, I'll concede when it gets to be in the teens or single digits in most of the south; that is rough because no one is used to operating when it is cold like that.

This cold stretch isn't lasting too long, with a return to "normal" expected mid-week.  I'm hoping we see a return to normal snowfall... it would be fun to see a couple days when we see six inches or more hit the ground.  I wish my friends farther south would ship some of their snow up here!

If you don't care for winter, don't worry - spring is getting closer every day.
