Like seeing a Buck or catching a batting practice baseball.
Then there are things that sneak up on you and catch you by surprise.
Like the fact our oldest child turns 30 years old today!
It was a blasted hot day in Pierre, South Dakota the day Matt was born. Real hot, like 118 degrees. Above zero.
Really. I'm not kidding.
He's been a real fire-cracker ever since.
Two years later, he moved with us to Wisconsin. Its where he grew up and it is still home.

Recently I talked with someone who said it made them feel old to have a kid who was retiring.
I'm not at that stage, but when your mental age is decades younger than the chronological, it feels odd to admit you are old enough to have a 30 year old.
So it is.
Happy Birthday, Matthew!
