At the Zoo

Among the many treasures of Madison, the Henry Vilas Zoo is one which appeals to all ages.

It's a destination for lots of families, photographers, animal lovers, and people looking for a quiet spot.

Near the Children's Petting Zoo section is a large Koi pond, a small flock of Flamingos and a trackless train.

The new habitat for Grizzly Bears offer a couple of interesting vantage points near their pond and close to their grassy field.

Huge windows offer the illusion of being part of their world since the bear come right next to the glass.

The Polar Bear are in the adjacent habitat in the new Arctic Passage exhibit.

They are interesting to observe, especially in the water.

My trips to the zoo are in pursuit of interesting pictures and trying to capture an image I've never seen.

Journeys through the zoo are quicker and less expensive than a world-wide safari.  Since the Vilas Zoo doesn't charge admission, it's easy to visit the zoo frequently or at different times of day in search of the right shot.

As the season changes, so do the animals, and frequent trips allow the guest to track those changes.  In the life of the permanent guests and their own life.

The day of this visit, I decided I need to ride more trains!
