Happy Thanksgiving!

I will praise God’s name in song and glorify him with thanksgiving
                                  Psalm 69:30

Amidst the food, parades, Black Friday Eve, and football - hopefully there was a minute or two to give thanks.

There is the obvious - giving thanks for the food on the table is a nice place to start.  Our food, whether its a beautifully dressed turkey or a tuna salad sandwich, is a great gift.  One most of us receive and enjoy so much we struggle with diets and workouts.

There are so many things to be thankful for each day.  A quote that gets some deserved attention this time of year, "What if you woke up today with only the things you thanked God for yesterday?"

  • Family
  • Friends
  • Health
  • Employment
  • Things that make us laugh
  • "Our" stuff
  • Nature
  • Football (I'll admit, maybe I need to move this down the list?)
  • Long conversations
  • Moments which take our breath away
  • Knowing we should treasure those moments
  • and the list goes on.  And on.  And on.
Of course, our blessings come in different portions or at different times in our lives.  And, in retrospect, some of the stuff we thought of as our small blessings turned out to be pretty big after all!

At the top of the list is a loving Father in heaven who blesses us above and beyond what we deserve.  Including the gift of His son, our Savior.  For once, the phrase, "Thank God!" truly applies.

I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds. Psalm 9:1
