Spectacle

It's a big weekend coming up.

The 'unofficial beginning of summer.'

Time to get on the water whether it's for fishing or pleasure boating.

Time to gather with family and friends for graduation celebrations or a big family picnic.

Time to wrap up the 'honey-do' list and get all those planters filled with dirt and ready for planting.

Time - in Indianapolis and Charlotte and hundreds of small tracks around the country - for the trips around the dirt or paved ovals to begin.

Time for parades with marching bands, pretty princesses, and beautiful floats.

Time for that summer clock to start counting down to Labor Day and the 'unofficial end of summer,' which is one reason we take this weekend so seriously.

In the midst of all the hullabaloo, though, take a moment this weekend to stop.

Offer you prayers of thanksgiving and your handshakes of thanks to the men and women who serve and have served our country.

The courage they've demonstrated and continue to show the world are why we get to enjoy all this stuff in the first place!

Have an awesome weekend.
